We often work closely with interior designers and developers and The Chapel near Larkhall in Bath was a total renovationΒ project and we were asked to design a kitchen and utility room for a high end property developer in Bath.
This Victorian chapel is a truly special building dating back to the 1880βs. It was important that our designs were sympathetic to its historical architecture.Β When designing for a development project you have to think of the end user in advance so itβs important to consider all aspects of the design to suit an individualΒ professional purchaser to a large family.
With tall windows and very high ceilings the space was open and light and we reflected this in both design and the colour pallet for the cabinetry. Walnut carcasses with solid walnut drawer boxes complement the subtle tones of the Zoffany Quarter Mushroom & Aubusson paint colours that we used , this worked well as a contrast to the clean white walls.
A large island serves as additional prep space and with seating for sixΒ it is the centerpiece of the kitchen.
Built-in integrated fridge and freezer sit perfectly flush into a recess to maximise floor space with ample clearance to the island. A modern chimney hood and Lacanche induction range cooker looks perfect in the kitchen setting and offers clean professional cooking facilities.
We continued the same cabinetry into the utility room where we designed the laundry appliances at waist height for ease of use and convenient storage above and under with additional pull-outΒ basket shelvesΒ below. Tall storage units with internal adjustable shelves and hanging rails offer flexibility of use. We used Zoffany QuarterΒ Mushroom here too to keep this space light and clean.
βMegan and the Shaker & May team did a wonderful job of designing and installing a kitchen, a utility room and other storage furniture throughout my project.
The design process was a very enjoyable experience, with meetings at the Shaker & May showroom in Bath and at their factory in Frome. It was fantastic to see the selection of materials available and the CGIβs that Megan produced gave me a very good sense of how the finished spaces and products would look.
When it came to the quality of the installation and the finished products, everything was simply beautiful. The kitchen is the centrepiece of the house and compliments the features of the house perfectly. A truly joyful experience from start to finish, working with a team of professionals. Thank you Shaker & May.β
