Estimated cabinetry cost £35,000 to £40,000 ex VAT
What a transformation. Our clients were undergoing a renovation project in their beautiful farmhouse near Bath, a project that would span 24 months.
It was important to create a timeless, warm and welcoming kitchen that would work seamlessly for a growing family and all their needs. The cabinetry was painted in Zoffany Bone Black which gives a strong look to the cabinetry complemented by the off-white quartz with a subtle dark grey vein running through it which picks up the paint colour perfectly. The large island doubles up as a prep station with a vented induction hob on one side and informal seating for four. Access to the cooking facilities remain on one side with the oven and microwave set into tall cabinets at waist height. A large fridge freezer offers ample storage with a continuous shelf ideal for storing large platters and the pull-out freezer section makes for easy access to frozen goods. The dishwasher is conveniently placed next to the Belfast sink with access at both sides.
We utilised the under stairs area by creating a comfortable reading snug with storage under and a bespoke wine store set behind a full height smoked glass door and the LED lighting in this space gives it a soft warm glow. We designed an additional display unit with tall, fluted glass panels, an ideal space to store tableware and glasses. Closer to the dining room there is a bespoke drinks cabinet with a distressed mirror for a touch of luxury to bounce light back into this side, perfect for when our clients are entertaining.
We were also commissioned for the boot room/utility area with a hidden washing machine and tumble dryer, large single Belfast sink, basket storage and a seating bench. T&G panelling was fitted to the wall with brass pegs for hanging coats and jackets, so this space is practical and elegant.
We cannot rate Shaker and May highly enough and would absolutely recommend them to anyone thinking of taking the plunge. Our experience was incredible throughout. Every member of staff we came in contact with had the same warm, amenable approach and seemed dedicated to making sure we had the high-end kitchen of our dreams.
Megan was phenomenal throughout and I felt like I ended the project with a friend! Her design skills were incredible and no matter how many ideas we threw at her she swiftly incorporated them into our design leaving us with a truly bespoke kitchen that you just couldn’t order ‘off the shelf’. Meg strikes a brilliant balance of helping guide and giving suggestions whilst allowing you to make your own mind up.
Julia and Megan work as a real team and Julia’s input was always just as valuable. They bring very different styles to the table but meet in the middle perfectly. It’s very unique to be able to give guidance on style but adapting that to the individual style of the customer. They are both very talented at what they do but also go out of their way to ensure you feel like their top priority.
When it came to fitting the kitchen Paul and Harry were absolutely fantastic. Their attention to detail is phenomenal and they are so incredibly skilled at what they do. They are also lovely to have around the house and nothing was ever too much trouble.
We couldn’t be happier with our kitchen/utility/garden room and have no regrets about going for the bespoke option or choosing Shaker and May. It really says something when you are sad to see a project end as the team were so lovely to work with and had temporarily become a part of life!
Thank you Meg, Julia, Paul, Harry and Frosty!
