A long-awaited dream comes true. Our clients waited many years before upgrading their kitchen and had done a lot of research to find the right designer/company to work with. We were approached initially for the kitchen, a project that soon extended to the utility, boot room and cloakroom. This is such a beautiful home set in the heart of Somerset with amazing panoramic views, so each room had to be respectful of the buildingβs architecture and space.
Our clients wanted a homely welcoming feel to the design with traditional cabinetry that has a timeless elegance. It was important to incorporate a SubZero fridge, freezer and a wine fridge into the design; a double fronted chefβs pantry and drinks cabinet sits at either side of these appliances creating a run of full height units.
A large Aga sits proudly in the centre of the main cabinetry framed with a bespoke chimney breast to create a focal point. We suggested Rough Old Glass Cloud as a mirrored splashback spanning the entire length at the back to reflect light back into the room. A breakfast station near the table provides the family and guests access to tea, coffee and cereal etc without encroaching on the main cooking and prep space.
The kitchen has ample room for their large dining table whilst the large island seats four to six comfortably for more informal dining. Back-to-back cabinets provide more storage under the worktop overhang on one side with push-catches to open for the larger and not so often used items. On the opposite side there isΒ an integrated under-counter fridge and built-in microwave with yet more storage at either side.
Two dishwashers were used in this design, one at either side of a pull-out duo waste bin to rotate everyday crockery which works well for day to day use and ensures ample dishwashing space when entertaining.
The utility and boot room combines storage and functionality with tall cabinets to conceal a large floor standing washer and dryer that has shelving above for laundry baskets. A double broom cupboard for mops, brooms and cleaning products means that everything is neatly stored away and easily accessed.
A large single sink with spray tap works well for all laundry needs, flower arranging and cleaning off wellies and sports boots whilst the T&G backed bench seat with additional storage under, painted coat peg rail and top shelf is a great addition to this room. A tall double cupboard with hanging rail offers further storage for the laundry and two tall doors conceal the large boiler.
In the cloakroom tall cabinets are fitted wall to wall with internal shelves and hanging rails to create airing cupboardΒ storage for coats, jackets, shoes and boots while a coordinating freestanding vanity unit with drawers completes this room and complements the overall look.
